The National Union of Syrian Students, Egypt Branch, in coordination with the Syrian Embassy in Cairo, organized the Loyalty Football Championship to celebrate the Syrian Arab Army Day this evening at Al Salam Sports Stadium in Giza Governorate, Egypt.
The tournament was organized by three teams: the Army, Al-Ittihad and Al-Wathba, with the participation of a number of Syrian students and Egyptian brothers studying in Egypt.
The tournament, which was dominated by the high sports spirit, ended with the Army team winning first place, followed by Al Wathba in second place and Al Ittihad third.
Ambassador Dr. Bassam Darwish, head of the Syrian Arab diplomatic mission in Egypt, said in a special statement to SANA’s reporter in Cairo on the sidelines of the tournament that the Army’s Day is an occasion that summarizes the history of the great sacrifices engraved on hearts, and it shortens the holidays because it contains all the noble and authentic meanings rooted in its elements, the brave people who defended their honor. The homeland and the nation, adding that "our symbolic celebration will keep the torch of memory burning to light the paths for the future of the beloved people of Syria."
For his part, William Al-Moallem, President of the National Union of Syrian Students in Egypt, expressed, in a similar statement, congratulations on behalf of the Syrian students studying in Egypt for the heroes of our Syrian Arab Army on their feast, pointing to the students’ appreciation for their courage, sacrifices and pure blood that they offered for the sake of the homeland’s pride and dignity.
He added, "We pledge to them that we will remain loyal soldiers with them and by their side in one trench to fight the dark terrorist ideology and liberate our dear homeland from the abomination of every aggressor and hater."
