Reactions to Simon Bailes' Retirement from Team Fight (Reuters)
For the first time since the retirement that rocked the sports world, Simon Bales explains: I suffer from both physical and mental problems.
The legendary gymnast, who did not compete in the group competition and in a big battle in Tokyo, published an Instagram post this morning (Friday) that shed light on the circumstances behind the decision.
"To anyone who says I'd retired - that's not true. It's just that my mind and body are out of sync right now. I don't think everyone understands how hard it is to compete like that," Bales wrote, adding to her post video from one of the training sessions in Tokyo. Happens.
"I don't have to give explanations about putting my health first. Mental health is physical health."

"I've had less good exercises before. I've never retired because of it."

Bales claims that in her condition, she can not make a double reversal - which makes her fear of injury.
"I'm not there right now. Just almost, but not there. Sometimes I can't even pretend I'm doing a reincarnation. It's the strangest and strangest feeling I've ever experienced."
According to Bales, the feelings that made her retire only began when she arrived in Tokyo.
"It started out completely arbitrary. One morning, I just started to be a lot less good at training," she wrote.
"I feel like I'm not in control of my body. It's crazy, and even more frightening when I'm in the air and I have no idea how to sigh, or what to sigh. I retired because of the bad results? That's really not true. "I finished the competition. But now I have just lost the most basic sense of safety needed to compete. It is terrifying to start doing exercises of such difficulty when your body and mind are out of sync. Not recommended at all."
