So now after all: The district now wants to buy air purification devices for the schools - but only for some of the classes.

So now after all: The district now wants to buy air purification devices for the schools - but only for some of the classes.

Freising

- For the third time the school committee of the district had to deal with the topic after the state government had now recommended the acquisition and launched a funding program for it.

The decision was preceded by a lengthy consultation with some additional motions and the statement of all district councils that they had no expert knowledge in matters of aerosols.

And there was no shortage of displeasure and anger about the state government.

The state of affairs and the scientific findings have not changed since the consultations in March and May when the purchase was rejected (apart from the purchase of six devices), according to District Administrator Helmut Petz.

However, the decision by the state government has increased the pressure enormously.

The administration's proposal took this into account: A specialist advisor should then be called in to examine the 675 rooms in the district schools.

On this basis, all rooms that meet category 2 specified by the Federal Environment Agency - window ventilation possible to a limited extent - are to be equipped with air cleaning devices.

The request to equip all classrooms is rejected

How many that will be cannot be foreseen at the moment.

However, in order to save time, not to have to seek resolutions from the district committee and the district council and also to avoid having to draw up a supplementary budget, the administration proposed an upper limit of 125,000 euros.

If you had wanted to equip all rooms (including those in Category 1 - window ventilation possible or air-conditioning system available), that would have cost 2.87 million euros.

The discussion was opened by Samuel Fosso (FSM): He emphasized that a decision had never been so difficult for him.

But in the end he trusts the Federal Environment Agency and therefore supports the administration's proposal, which is "not perfect, but justifiable".

His supplementary proposal that the district should be allowed to react immediately without further time-consuming consultation and decision-making in the committees if the requirements of the state government or the Federal Environment Agency change, was withdrawn by him after District Administrator Helmut Petz had promised to convene a special meeting in the event of the case.

In addition to the administration's proposal for a resolution, the Greens had requested that the district administrator should lobby the state government to ensure that the Free State not only assume 50 percent of the costs (with a maximum of 1750 euros per room), but 100 percent.

This addition was unanimously approved by the district councils.

The more extensive proposal by the Greens, which FDP district councilor Tobias Weiskopf supported, to equip all classrooms in grades 1 to 6 with air purification devices, was rejected with 4:10 votes.

SPD district council criticizes "playing with people's fear"

If the district councils pretty much agreed that the administration's proposed resolution was "differentiated and appropriate" (Martin Pschorr, SPD), "sound, factual and comprehensible" (Robert Scholz, FW), only AfD district councilor Melanie Hilz spoke out against it : You see the acquisition "very critical", after all, there are no infections in schools.

Hilz was the only district councilor to vote against the proposed resolution.

There was again quite a consensus on the criticism of the state government's approach: Eva Bönig (Greens) saw the principle of connectivity as a given, in other words: the Free State had to pay for everything.

Pschorr saw the constant resonance of the illustration that only air purification devices could possibly later prevent distance teaching, as “playing with people's fear”.

Scholz also annoyed "the business with people's fear".

And Hans Sailer (FW) became even clearer: that the state government recommends this, but then leaves the municipalities alone, that creates "dispute between the municipalities and municipalities", even for "discord in the country".

Also read:

What the municipality of Haag has in mind is more than a drop in the bucket: With a care home, you counter the lack of care places.

And more than that.

The first open-air beer garden starts next Thursday at the Alten Wirt in Goldach.

There will be music, cabaret and comedy on three evenings.

Should there be a flood in Freising, the rescue chain would have to get going quickly in the race against the water.

Six specific measures are then pending.
