HMOs Maccabi and Meuhedet began this morning (Friday) the third vaccination campaign against the corona virus for those aged 60 and over. With Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's announcement last night about the administration of the third dose of the vaccine, the four HMOs report that thousands of people of the relevant ages have already made appointments to get vaccinated. Maccabi and Meuhedet preceded the operation, which is expected to begin extensively on Sunday, in order to take advantage of the vaccines that are about to expire.
Simcha Yekutieli, 68, who arrived this morning to get vaccinated at the Maccabi Health Fund in Ramat Hasharon, said that she chose to get vaccinated in order to "feel free to be with the grandchildren and fly." She also clarified that she is not afraid to get vaccinated even though the vaccine has not yet received FDA approval: "Recommends everyone to get vaccinated."
Simcha Levy, 67, who also came to be vaccinated, said he did not perform a serological test to determine the condition of the antibodies in his body, noting: "I see the infection spreading. I believe in our doctors, I do not care if it is happiness or not happiness."

Bennett announced the administration of the third dose of the vaccine, with the support of medical experts in Israel and around the world, and before the move was approved by the regulatory bodies around the world.
The Ministry of Health has decided that the reception of the third dose will be possible five months after the second, when at this stage, people under 60 with background illnesses will not be able to get vaccinated.
In a statement recorded in advance from the Kirya base in Tel Aviv, Bennett said that President Yitzhak Herzog would be the first to be vaccinated in a third dose, in order to encourage the population to cooperate.
The president is expected to be vaccinated during the day.
Opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sarah, will also be vaccinated in the third round today.
