The draft planning for Poing's new senior center was presented for the first time at the municipal council meeting on Thursday evening.

A major project for the future.

Poing - 108 fully inpatient care places, 25 care places for day care, 40 apartments as assisted living: these are the key data of the senior citizen center that is being built in Poing-Süd.

The location is on Wildparkstraße or Am Hanselbrunn, near the new railway underpass and opposite (east) the Rewe store.

The investor and builder is BA4 GmbH & Co. KG from Poing, for which the X3 architects from Markt Schwaben are planning and implementing.

On Thursday evening, X3 managing director Markus Steffelbauer presented the concrete draft planning to the public for the first time at the meeting of the municipal council.

The municipal council unanimously approved the project and thus paved the way for the development plan procedure.

The total usable area is 14,691 square meters (including 88 underground parking spaces and 37 above-ground parking spaces), which is roughly equivalent to two soccer fields.

The senior citizen center will be built in a U-shape with five storeys (level plus four), plus a block (in which the assisted living is housed), so that an inner courtyard is created for the entire ensemble.

According to Steffelbauer, it is designed with raised beds, trees, meadows, perennials and fountains.

“We don't want a cool concrete block,” he emphasized at the council meeting.

A photovoltaic system is to be installed on the flat roof of the senior citizen center.

Pflegestern already operates the senior citizen center with 39 places (four of which are short-term) on Marktstrasse, and the new building will cover the need for nursing and care places, said Mayor Thomas Stark (non-party) at the municipal council meeting.

According to the current care needs analysis, the need for fully inpatient care places will increase to 131 by 2033 and to 39 places in day care.

Poing: Applause after introduction and approval

Representatives and spokespersons from all municipal council groups praised the private investor for this major project. "We are happy about everyone who invests in a senior center," said Marc Salih (FDP). Peter Maier (SPD citizen list) praised that the nursing rooms are larger than in the existing senior citizen center and that the public café will create a meeting place for senior citizens. Mayor Thomas Stark: "There is no luxury project being built, but a needs-based senior center." As before, the planning and further steps would always be carried out together with the municipality of Poing and the municipal council, the investor and the future operator (care star) Stark and architect Steffelbauer. No information was given on the investment costs.

After the plans had been presented and the municipal council had given its approval, there was applause from the visitors to the council meeting in the triple gym of the sports center. Among others by Hans Bayerl, the spokesman for the voluntary senior citizens' council in Poing.
