He is known as the long-time spokesman for the Oktoberfest hosts.

He always has a fitting, tough Bavarian saying on his lips.

Now the community of Straßlach-Dingharting has awarded Toni Roiderer honorary citizenship.

It is the first time that the municipality has presented such an award.

Straßlach-Dingharting

- The community of Straßlach-Dingharting has always celebrated its New Year's reception late, namely at the end of January.

This year everything was different again: the drink at the beginning of the year became a drink in the middle of the year, at the same time a highlight in the calendar, because the municipality granted honorary citizenship for the first time.

It went to Toni Roiderer, senior boss in the “Wildpark” and long-time Oktoberfest host in the Hackerzelt, who has also been a member of the municipal council for the UWV in his home town for 20 years.

Countless awards, but this one particularly touches him

Roiderer is an experienced speaker who is also blessed with humor and quick-wittedness; but that evening in the forest house by the tram the emotion was a little noticeable in him too. "So much honor ...", he said with a wink, "if I weren't used to it, I would be almost embarrassed". He was only able to do what he did thanks to his family.

In his equally lively eulogy, Mayor Hans Sienerth (non-party) said that Roiderer himself had long since lost track of the awards he has received in the course of his professional life.

He has received a lot of prizes for restaurants and butchers, he is also the bearer of the Cross of Merit on the ribbon of the Order of Merit, badges of honor and honor plates of the community are also in his possession.

The long-time spokesman for the Viennese landlords was, said Sienerth, an “ambassador” for Straßlach-Dingharting, which some perceive primarily as a “village around the wildlife park”.

Mayor: "Much respect for your life's work"

Of course, Roiderer also had a decisive influence on the community in other ways.

The town center, the Markushof, and the two supermarkets on the southern outskirts of Straßlach are thanks to him.

“This took our infrastructure to a new level,” said Sienerth, who even put on the chain of office to celebrate the event.

He said to Roiderer, before handing him the letter of honorary citizenship: "You have promoted the public good through exemplary behavior, I have a lot of respect for you and your life's work."

Roiderer then went to the microphone.

He said that he, too, was satisfied with “what we have all succeeded in doing”, that the discounters and the Markushof had “raised the value of Straßlach's life.

“I'm proud to be a street laugher.” He was applauded for a long time.
