Regardless of the weather on Sunday, August 1st: A world record attempt in grilling will take place from 3 to 3:59 p.m.

Poing - The mandate is as follows: “Most photos of people barbecuing, uploaded to Facebook within an hour”. That is the task with which the German Barbecue Association (GBA, German: Deutscher Grill-Verband) wants to create an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. The date is Sunday, August 1st, from 3 p.m. to 3:59 p.m., reports Ulrich Wette (see Facebook photos). The Poinger is the managing director of the GBA, he has already organized and held numerous barbecue championships in Poing. Because these could not take place last year and this year because of the corona pandemic, the GBA considered attempting a world record "to encourage people to have a barbecue," says Wette. He himself will probably put on normal sausages on Sunday.
The GBA managing director explains the rules for participating in the world record attempt:
• Each photo uploaded must show a person preparing food on a broiler or grill.
What goes on the grill is up to you.
"There are no guidelines," says Wette.
• All photos must be from different / different user accounts.
Every griller has to upload a photo to his or her own account.
If someone from fellow grillers posts photos on their account, this only counts as one picture, explains Ulrich Wette.
• The photo must be saved on the GBA Facebook event page: www.facebook.com/GBAMasters2021
• There is no specification of when the picture is taken - only the upload must take place on Sunday, August 1st, between 3pm and 3:59 pm.
“Of course it would be great if we could actually all be at the grill on this Sunday during the day,” writes the GBA on its website.

Ulrich Wette from Poingen has been a member of the jury at world, European and other barbecue championships for many years.
He also launched the “Poinger Grill Championship”, which has already taken place twice as the official Bavarian championship.
Normally the competition at the grills would have been in the summer, because of the corona pandemic and rules, this was not possible this year or 2020.
The same applies to the German championship held by the GBA.
Now the club has just come up with something else: the world record attempt.
Anyone can take part, says Ulrich Wette, you don't have to be a member of the GBA.
