A 21-year-old driver was driving his VW, Golf, on the main road from Sachsenkam towards Bad Tölz at around 6:30 a.m.
For an as yet unexplained cause, the young man came off the road alone to the left and crashed into a tree.
The man from Reichersbeurer suffered fatal injuries in the impact and died at the scene of the accident.
