Musikförderkreis has organized numerous concerts in recent years, brought many artists to the Hallertau, and over the years has always provided cultural enjoyment.

This year the music group celebrates its 30th anniversary - with a summer party in August and hopefully a concert in October.

Just a loose community

The beginnings of the Musikförderkreis go back to Fred Hof-stetter - he had long been thinking of founding it.

In Helmut Schranner, Lothar Näther, Hebert Klessinger, Hans Siebenbürger, Thedi Hirn, Monika Betz and Hans Frohmann, he found music-loving colleagues who met on February 1, 1991 in what was then the Schwemmwirt restaurant for the founding meeting.

One thing was clear: They didn't want to become a club, but rather a relaxed interest group that was supposed to organize cultural events - with a focus on jazz, as Eva Kiggen explains in an interview with the FT.

The first concert on November 2, 1991 in the school gymnasium in Nandlstadt was to be followed by many more.

In 2015 there was the cultural sponsorship award

On March 11, 2006, after many successful concerts with a concert by Pitu Pati, the music promotion group should actually be over, as there was initially no successor for Fred Hofstetter who wanted to retire from the leadership role. With Eva Kiggen at the helm, a number of motivated new members and the old members, the work was then continued - with success: On May 10, 2015, the music promotion group was awarded the Nandlstadt market promotion prize for culture.

In the meantime, says Eva Kiggen, the focus is no longer just on jazz: For 15 years, world music, modern folk music, cabaret and much more have been played in the Huberhof in Airischwand.

And of course they also want to encourage newcomers.

“Usually there are three to four events a year,” says Kiggen.

These are all organized by the twelve members - from booking the artists to advance ticket sales to setting up and dismantling the stage.

Why is she doing this?

"For the fun of joy," says Kiggen.

Two concerts postponed due to corona

Like many other clubs, the music promotion group has been slowed down in recent months due to corona, which is why the 30th anniversary cannot be celebrated as planned. But the members around Eva Kiggen do not let themselves get down - and have organized a summer party for Friday, August 13th. From 6 p.m. (admission: 5 p.m.) you can dance to the music of the group Vintage Groove - the focus is on oldies and rock & pop from the 1960s and 70s. "Please come and celebrate with us, have fun and enjoy yourself after this long period of abstinence," the group said.

And Eva Kiggen hopes that a concert can still take place this year: If everything goes according to plan, Michael Fitz should play on Saturday, October 30th at the Huberhof in Airischwand - the concert had to be postponed due to corona.

With his program “now for yesterday”, Fitz will be on stage from 8 pm.

Martin Schmitt's concert also had to be postponed - to Friday, March 25, 2022. He will show his pianistic, vocal and cabaret potential from 8 p.m. in the Huberhof.

Kiggen: Actually, all the performances were good

Eva Kiggen and her team have already organized many events. The question about the personal highlight is difficult for her to answer. But a few special moments come to mind: The Nostalphoniker (in the style of the Comedian Harmonists) in October 2019, the young boogie pianist Dan Popek in April 2019, the Freising Blue Grass formation Bee Wiggs in January 2018, Monaco Bagage in June 2013, Quadro Nuevo in February 2010 as well as concerts by "regular guest" Edwin Kimmler and performances by Martina Eisenreich. “But actually they were all good,” says Eva Kiggen. The group itself also had a great performance: In 2015, the members marched in historical clothing at the historical parade in Nandlstadt (1200th anniversary celebration).
