The first lady of Haiti was seriously injured in an attack.

For the first time since the attack, Martine Moïse spoke publicly about the night in which a murder squad broke into the presidential house in the capital Port-au-Prince - and shot the Haitian head of state.

"The only thing I saw before they killed him were their boots," said Moïse of the moment when her husband was shot next to her.
"Then I closed my eyes and saw nothing else."

She was lying on the floor next to her bed, her mouth full of blood and her elbow splintered while the attackers searched the room.
And apparently they found what they were looking for.
As the intruders left the bedroom the presidential couple was in during the attack, they stepped on the first lady's foot and shone in her eyes.
"When they left, they thought I was dead," Moïse told the

She also stated that she did not believe that the central issue of the attack had been resolved: Who murdered her husband and the President of Haiti? Like many other Haitians, the first lady is convinced that someone ordered and paid for the attack. According to Moïse, the suspects were only the executive. She is convinced: "Only the oligarchs and the system could kill him."
During the interview, the voice of the president's wife was rarely more than a whisper, the newspaper said.
Wakened by the sound of the gunshots, she first ran to two of her children who were in the house and instructed them to hide in the bathroom.
The young adults holed up there together with the family dog.
Her husband said he had notified the security team - but instead of them, the attackers entered the house and fired into the bedroom.

The murderers should know that they are not afraid, the 47-year-old continues. "I want the people who did this to be caught or they'll kill every single president who takes power," she said. “You did it once. They will do it again. ”She further confirmed that she would consider running for the presidency herself.
The news of the fatal attack on the President of Haiti on July 7th made headlines around the world. According to the police, "26 Colombians and two US citizens of Haitian origin" belonged to the command. More than 20 people have been arrested since then. The president's security team was also targeted by the investigation. None of the guards were wounded or killed in the raid. The security chief Jean Laguel Civil is suspected to have been involved in the conspiracy to murder Moïse, said a police spokeswoman at the end of July.
