The federal government has decided to tighten entry rules for unvaccinated travelers from August 1st.
There are also changes in the classification of risk areas.
From Sunday (August 1st), the mandatory test for travelers returning will come into force.
This means that all travelers who are not fully vaccinated or have recovered have to be tested for the corona virus after returning to Germany.
It does not matter which country you are coming from or which means of transport.
Air travelers have had to present a negative corona test at the place of departure since March, unless they have been vaccinated or have recovered.
In addition, something should also change in the classification of risk areas *.
Soon no more "simple risk areas": Instead, tightening in high-risk areas
In the course of the new regulation, a risk assessment by the Robert Koch Institute for the Federal Foreign Office has been abolished: Until now, EU countries were classified as "simple risk areas" with a 7-day incidence of 50 or more new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Countries with an incidence above 200 are classified as a high-incidence area. Areas in which there is a high risk of infection due to the spread of virus variants of the coronavirus are considered virus variant areas.
But that should change from August: From then on, vacation countries will only be classified into two categories - high-risk areas and virus variant areas.
The “simple risk areas” then no longer exist
. Instead,
countries
should be
classified as high-risk areas with an incidence well above 100, with full hospitals and only a few tests
. This also means that countries like Greece or France, which were previously considered high-risk areas and have an incidence of over 100, could suddenly become high-risk areas - and therefore
stricter entry rules for Germany
apply
to holidaymakers
. More detailed information is expected to follow.

Plans of the federal government: These rules should apply to travelers returning from high-risk areas
For
unvaccinated travelers returning from high-risk areas, a ten-day quarantine obligation should then
apply - also for children up to twelve years of age.
From the fifth day onwards, those affected can "free themselves".
Children up to the age of twelve can leave the quarantine after five days without a test.
According to the plans, vaccinated and convalescent people should still be able to enter without self-isolation.
Those returning from virus variant areas must continue to be in a 14-day quarantine.
This cannot be shortened by a negative test.
