Survey: Laschet curve makes a huge kink - Baerbock has little to smile about

Laschet and Baerbock, on the other hand, watch.

Berlin - What is Armin Laschet thinking when he looks at his polls?

When such numbers reach extremes - both high and low - politicians like to remind you: “There is still so much that can change, I don’t give too much.” It’s also true, there are still just under two before the general election Months - and the last ones have already shown what a rollercoaster ride this year is all about.

But it is definitely not nice for the Union candidate at the moment.

Survey on the federal election 2021: Laschet only 13 percent

In a snapshot of the opinion research institute Insa for the

Bild am Sonntag

(August 1), the CDU politician Laschet only comes to 13 percent in the direct question of the Chancellor.

If the Germans could elect their Chancellor directly, this time fewer would vote for him again.

In the previous week, Laschet still got 15 percent, compared to two weeks ago he has lost a full seven percentage points.

From the new maximum value back down again.

Laschet recently did not give a good picture in the flood areas, and he also had to apologize for a missing source in his book.

Things that don't just seem to like his Union colleague, CSU boss Markus Söder, not so much.

In any case, he finally wants to focus more on content again.

Just under two months until the general election: is the race turning again?

And not just him: Again and again the days can be heard that more attention should finally be paid to the content of this election campaign.

Right at the forefront of this wish: the Greens.

After all, her candidate for Chancellor Annalena Baerbock had to grapple with personal missteps (keywords: additional income, curriculum vitae, book, N-word).

Baerbock has not yet been able to benefit from Laschet's deep fall. Like him, she lands at 13 percent this week, according to Insa. The laughing third party - and that by far - is currently Olaf Scholz from the SPD. It continues to climb to 22 percent. But he cannot really transfer this momentum to his party. And: 38 percent would not vote for any of the three candidates, ten percent do not yet know, the others did not want to provide any information.

In the Sunday question, the Union remains ahead, albeit certainly below its expectations: the CDU and CSU achieve 27 percent.

The Greens come to 18 percent, the SPD to 17 percent.

The FDP remains at 13 percent, as does the AfD with 11 percent.

Only the left has lost a percentage point compared to the previous week and now lands at 6 percent.

There are increasing questions as to whether the party will even make it back into parliament this year.

With this result, neither the GroKo nor Black-Green would have a majority in the Bundestag.

Who comes to the Chancellery - Laschet, Baerbock or Scholz?

Postal voting becomes important

None of this is set in stone - but the hot phase of the election campaign is beginning.

Mainly because this year the postal vote could become more important, the parties and candidates will be beating the drum again in August.

However, those who are undecided have until September 26th, 6 p.m. to make a decision.

Notes on the survey

Insa asked a total of 1196 people the “Sunday question” for Bild am Sonntag from July 26th to 30th: “If there were general elections next Sunday, how would you vote?” The maximum margin of error is 2.9 percentage points.

On July 30, 1001 people were asked who of the three candidates for chancellor they would vote for.
