The Lionesses lost to Australia, one of the classic rivals in field hockey and ultimately the best team in the first round in Group B of the Olympics.
It was
2 to 0
for the Australians in a duel that had had them controlling a good part of the match but that
escaped them in the last quarter.
Thus, they
were third
in zone B, behind the oceanic and Spain and now they will play on Monday for the quarterfinals with a rival to be determined.
If they win, they will have a
double chance
to play for a medal at Tokyo 2020.
The Argentine team played
one of their best matches
of the tournament - if not the best -, becoming strong in defense from the beginning of the game and taking over the ball and actions with initiative and decision.
News in development.
