"Refrain from short-haul flights altogether"

Public participation in the government's noise action plan for Munich Airport has been completed.

The opinion of the city of Freising too.

- Beate Metz presented the six-page letter, which was divided into several points: On the one hand there was the night flight regulation, the restrictions of which were "predominantly exception regulations in favor of the airport" and not in favor of health care for the population.

The demand that has been made for 20 years: adapt the night flight restrictions to current scientific standards.

In plain language: a night flight ban should be set for the period from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The requirement

On the other hand, there was the third runway: The city continues to adhere to its demand that the planning and especially the implementation of the third runway should be "not pursued" in the interests of long-term and sustainable noise protection for residents.

It also calls on the government of Upper Bavaria to take all measures "to permanently repeal the implementation of the existing planning approval decision in a legally binding manner".

To reinforce this demand one points out contradictions between the runway construction and statements in the state development program.

The floor noise

The next point that has been tackled in the statement is the ground noise: Regarding the warming up of the engines, taxiing from the runway to the parking position and back, waiting for the take off and the reverse thrust when landing, “are suitable noise reduction measures to be taken promptly, ”writes the city.

In the draft of the noise action plan, several options are already mentioned, “to start directly at the source of the noise, so to speak”, but the city considers it necessary to “quickly minimize airport-relevant ground noise through new technologies”.

In addition, the city demands that passive noise protection measures be "generously supported".

Do without short trips

And one more thing: Basically, we welcome the noise action planning.

And it is also seen as positive that it is intended to reduce the number of short-haul flights.

But the city of Freising goes one step further with its demand: "The aim should be to avoid short-haul flights as much as possible."
