Police officers found a private car at a metered parking lot in Kwai Chung Village at about 12:30 noon yesterday (31st). They stepped forward to intercept and search, and seized 31 packets of suspected cocaine in the car.
The officers arrested a 22-year-old local man named Li, who is suspected of trafficking in drugs and is now being detained for investigation.
The total value of the drugs seized in the case was about 13,000 yuan, and the case was handed over to the Criminal Investigation Team of the Kwai Tsing Police District for follow-up.
The police emphasized that drug trafficking is a serious crime. According to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, Chapter 134 of the Laws of Hong Kong, once convicted, the maximum penalty is a fine of 5 million yuan and life imprisonment. The public should not try the law on their own.
