At least 10 gunshot wounded in gang attack in Queens, New York

Two individuals opened fire on a group of people on Saturday night. Police believe the shooting was directed at members of the Trinitarios gang. A video shows the attackers drawing their weapons and firing.

At least 10 people were injured Saturday night in a shooting outside a barbershop in Queens, New York, according to police.

Authorities believe the incident was due to a clash between gangs.

Three of the wounded are members of the Trinitarios gang and were the targets of the attack, according to Chief of Detectives James Essig.

The attack occurred around 10:40 p.m., in North Corona, near the intersection of 97th Street and 37th Avenue.

The injured people - eight men and two women, ages 19 to 72 - are not in critical condition

, police said.

Seven of them were casual victims, some participating in a birthday party at a nearby restaurant, Essig said.

The person with the most serious injuries was shot in the abdomen.

Two attackers arrived at the scene on foot with their faces covered, hooded sweatshirts and opened fire on the people outside the barbershop.

They then fled on scooters driven by two other people, police said.

"This was a bold, coordinated attack ... this is unacceptable, this must stop," Essig said.

In a video distributed by the police, the two attackers in black sweatshirts can be seen when they appear in a corner, draw their weapons and begin to shoot.

Behind them are the drivers of the scooters.

Seven hours after the attack, detectives were still locating shell casings at the crime scene.

Essig said they had recovered at least 40 shells.

In June of last year, 26 members of the Trinitarios gang were indicted in a court in the Bronx, New York, for various attacks while they were in the Rikers Island jail.

Half of those incidents were against rival gang members and the rest against fellow Trinitarians who violated gang rules, authorities reported at the time.

Authorities still don't know who the attackers are in Saturday's shooting or which gang they belong to.

"We need the public's help. The detectives still have a lot of work to do ... we ask the public for their help, whatever information they have," Essig said.
