Britain's National Health Service has warned that devices used by people with Covid-19 to monitor blood oxygen levels at home may give inaccurate readings to black people.
And the Daily Telegraph quoted the authority as saying in a statement that there are reports that pulse oximetry can be less accurate for people with dark skin because it may show higher readings of the level of oxygen in the blood, indicating the need to check regularly to see if the percentage is dropping or not.
These fingertip devices work by shining a light through a person's skin to measure the level of oxygen in the blood.
