Damascus, SANA- Twenty children were acquainted with the art of ceramics and the stages of its manufacture during a workshop organized by the plastic artist Sana F.

Twenty children were introduced to the art of ceramics and the stages of its manufacture during a workshop held by the plastic artist Sana Farid in her studio, with ceramic chants, in Khan Asaad Pasha.

The children coming from Shaghaf studio were acquainted during the workshop with the principles of the art of ceramics and the stages of its manufacture, starting with sand, which is converted into clay, and then it is formed in several ways according to the need and taste of the potter to be baked to form pots or a piece of art from pottery, then color it and decorate it and put it in the oven for the second time To get a beautiful piece of ceramic out of it.

About the workshop, the plastic artist, Sana, said in a statement to SANA: “My stay in the Khan came at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture to hold courses for different ages in the art of ceramics. Today, we would like to invite a number of children to get acquainted with this traditional art through a recreational session in the arms of an important and inspiring historical place that can incite them to Creativity and develop their imagination.

Sana explained that the child seeks creativity and self-expression by instinct and imagination, and his interaction with the interactive and creative clay helps him to share all his senses in forming the shapes he wants, considering that these introductory sessions on a new art can create the beginning of a project for a creative artist in the future.

In turn, the plastic artist Reem Al-Hayek, director of the Shaghaf studio, pointed out that the workshop came with the aim of introducing children to a heritage profession that is threatened with extinction, so that they can learn about it and learn it in an effort to preserve it as a kind of heritage revival, in addition to being a new artistic technique that can be used in the future in their artistic career.

Children expressed their happiness in dealing with clay and shaping it into several shapes, each according to his desire. Celine Aissat, 12, explained that she tried with her hand to form a piece of clay, expressing her enthusiasm to complete all stages of work and obtain her ceramic piece.

Haneen Ahmed, 12, pointed out that the experience of making a ceramic piece was very interesting for her, while Joy, 8 years old, confirmed that she loved dealing with clay and learning the stages of ceramic making. Abdullah, the six-year-old, indicated that he had known the raw material of clay that enables him to make many shapes.

Yazan Badran, 8 years old, concluded by saying: “I came to learn the principles of the art of ceramics and I loved it very much, because I can make whatever I want with it, in many shapes and colors.”
