In 2020, 102 women died from the beatings of their husbands.
This figure is lower than in previous years, which can be explained by an intensification of police interventions.
In one year, governed by half by the first two confinements, the police intervened 400,000 times, or 45 interventions per hour.

Streamline police and judicial support
Often criticized for their slowness, criminal and judicial procedures will have to be speeded up.
From the moment the complaint is lodged, recourse to the courts.
"The objective is that 100% of the findings turn into a complaint or a report to the courts, while definitively proscribing handrails"

For this, the number of judicial police officers (OPJ), currently 17,000, should increase by 25%, a percentage missing from these officials for proper functioning.

a national official will be appointed to each of the directors general of the police, the gendarmerie and the Prefect of police, on the model of what exists in terms of terrorism and drugs
”. They will have to ensure the proper handling of cases of domestic violence and ensure good communication with other State services. Sixteen new family protection brigades will be created by October 31 in addition to the existing 102. "
I hope that in each department, there are teams specializing in the fight against domestic violence
," insisted the minister.
Finally, the file containing the data on the aggressors must be connected to the files listing the ports of arms in France in order to "
verify whether a person accused of acts of domestic violence is in possession of a weapon, and therefore of him. seize, without even the testimony of his spouse

An application will be created at the start of the school year, in addition to the moncommisariat.fr and magendarmerie.fr sites where any witness to domestic violence can alert the police.
The minister also asked that the report of the General Inspectorate of Justice and the General Inspectorate of the Administration on the murder of Mérignac be quickly made public.
He reported a series of failures in the follow-up of the violent repeat offender partner and the protection of the victim.
