The reason for this is the extreme heat that has recently been the order of the day in popular holiday destinations such as Italy or Greece.
Temperatures around 40 degrees have been a problem for both locals and tourists in recent weeks.
But it could get even hotter in the coming week.

The previous heat record in Europe is 48 degrees.
"One can only hope for southern and southeastern Europe that it doesn't turn out like that," said Grohs.
The experts do not expect the heat wave to cool off until after August 8th.
Then the temperatures during the day can fall below 40 degrees again.
In addition to Italy and Greece, other southern European countries such as Croatia, Turkey, Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Romania are also affected by the heat wave.

Exceptions, however, are cases in which “unavoidable exceptional circumstances” have a significant impact on the trip.
According to the consumer advice center, this also includes forest fires in the immediate vicinity of the travel area.

The constant heat in southern Europe is already causing problems in many places.
Forest fires have been raging on the Italian island of Sicily for several days and forest fires are also spreading in Greece and Turkey.
On the Turkish Mediterranean coast, regions in five provinces have been declared disaster areas due to the ongoing fires.
