101 young women and men have received their diplomas at the Penzberger Realschule.

The overall grade point average was 2.36.

According to the school, it is “significantly better than in previous years”.

There was a one before the decimal point 27 times.

"I've never seen that before," said headmaster Severin Hammel in amazement.

Penzberg - Thursday in the secondary school looked a little like a restaurant.

Tables were loosely distributed in the auditorium, at each of which a student sat with his family.

The only thing missing was the waiters.

As in the previous year, the Heinrich-Campendonk-Realschule in Penzberg divided the graduation ceremony, including the awarding of certificates, into four stages: one hour for every tenth grade.

Which is why Rector Severin Hammel gave his speech four times.

"I'm glad we don't have seven classes," he joked at the final.

It was not a normal school year again, said Hammel.

This was aimed at the corona pandemic with all its restrictions.

That was a great challenge for the students.

Self-control is an educational goal, but for the pupils the restrictions were “at times also an imposition”.

Hammel thanked the graduates for adhering to the hygiene rules and exercising caution towards others.

He is sorry that no graduation trip was possible, which graduates also regretted in their speeches.

But it was not a lost school year, said Hammel.

What you can see in the grades - the overall average this year was 2.36.

In this respect, too, it was not a normal year.

The result, praised the headmaster, was outstanding.

He has never seen 27 students get a one before the decimal point.

Amelie Kaiser, Manuel Wittmann, Denis Iancu (each with a 1.0 average), Lea Geißler, Sabrina Neumayr, Carina Schedewie, Lara Dietrich, Hendrik Windfuhr (each 1.25), Magdalena Sterzer (1.4), Alexandra Butz and Jasmin Bauer (both 1.5).

For this achievement they received awards from the Hoerbiger company.

The VR-Bank Werdenfels also honored tutors and school paramedics among the graduates.

"Not that easy" was the school year with alternating lessons, homeschooling and compulsory masking, said parents' council chairman Michael Wiesner.

"The challenge for you was enormous." The graduates would have coped well with it.

"It's an amazing year for you: cool lads, dashing girls, all very self-confident," said Wiesner, who advised them: "Stay curious, trust your strengths, be happy and enjoy life." Wiesner's contribution to the music matched the Corona year.

The singer and guitarist sat on stage with the head of the association and former headmaster Johann-Georg Schedler - he played the bass - and sang a song from “Silbermond”: “It was a different summer, it was a different year.

Upside down, strange, nothing as it was. "
