The Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas wrote the most important page of her sports career, reaching 15.67 meters to get her first Olympic gold and break a world record that had been standing for 26 years.
Rojas, 25, who had a personal best of 15.43 meters before the final, improves by 17 centimeters the previous record, which had been set by the Ukrainian Inessa Kravets with 15.50 meters at the 1995 World Cup in Gothenburg.
