Tourism: the Delta variant will not break the very good dynamics of July

2021-08-01T17:26:19.099Z

Despite the resurgence of the Covid epidemic and the specter of the health pass, the month of August is shaping up to be good for the destination France. European tourists are even starting to come back.

Health pass compulsory to enter French campsites.

In force since July 21, the measure gave a cold sweat to professionals in the sector, who feared a drop in attendance after a very good start to the season.

They uttered a sigh of relief the following Saturday, customer renewal day: fill rates remained excellent.

"If every Saturday is like that, we save summer,"

says Nicolas Dayot, the president of the National Federation of outdoor hotels.

The good resistance of campsites to the fourth wave of Covid should reassure most other tourism professionals.

Neither the rapid spread of the Delta variant nor the implementation of the health pass in transport and restaurants, scheduled for August 9, should break the good momentum observed in July.

"Overall, the summer will be very good,"

says Christian Mantei, general manager of the Atout tourist development agency.
