After the police investigation, it was suspected that the female victim’s 29-year-old boyfriend surnamed Xu Tongju was involved in the case. He was arrested in a residential unit in Tuen Mun on the same day, suspected of cruel treatment of animals, and seized a 15 cm model knife, suspected to be related to the case. The head of the Tuen Mun Police District Animal Crimes Police Team, Leung Kwun-ho, said that the arrested man reported the worker and his motive for committing the crime is still under investigation.

The cat involved is currently in a stable condition and has been taken care of by the SPCA for further inspection to determine its injuries.

It is reported that the cat was only newly purchased, and the incident did not involve the relationship between the couple.
