A Latina woman died after being shot in front of her 6-year-old daughter in California, a murder in which authorities believe the mother was mistaken for someone else, CNN reported.
Jacqueline Flores, 25, was parking her vehicle with her child in the back seat in Fresno on July 27 when she was shot in the head, according to a statement from Fresno County Police.
"This senseless act of violence may have been a case of identity error," authorities explained on Twitter.
"Fortunately, the girl was not injured, but a bullet entered the rear window where she was sitting," police said in the statement.
The agents and emergency officials practiced resuscitation maneuvers on the woman in the autp, and Flores was transferred to a local hospital in serious condition.
He died three days later, police reported in a Twitter post on Sunday.
The agents do not believe that Flores was the target of this crime: "This senseless act of violence may have been a case of mistaken identity."
