Afghan President Ashraf Ghani announced a six-month plan to defeat the Taliban, pointing out that Washington's sudden decision to withdraw its forces was behind the deteriorating security situation in his country.

"The reason for the situation we are in right now is that the decision was taken suddenly," Ghani was quoted by AFP as saying in parliament, noting that he had warned the Americans that the withdrawal would have consequences.

"The authorities have drawn up a six-month plan to defeat the Taliban," Ghani added, but acknowledged that the movement was no longer fragmented and inexperienced.

He said, "Afghan forces are facing the leadership of an organization backed by a sinful coalition of international terrorism and the circles supporting it."

According to the agency, Taliban militants attacked the capitals of at least three provinces, which are Lashkar Qah, Kandahar and Herat, after the end of a week that witnessed violent confrontations, in which thousands of civilians were displaced in light of the militants' advance.

US President Joe Biden announced that the withdrawal of his country's forces from Afghanistan will end on August 31, after nearly 20 years of invading this country, while observers believe that the withdrawal decision is the result of Washington's failure to achieve its plans there.
