E-mobility can no longer be stopped.

In Mittenwald, too, not only the network of charging stations is to be tightened.

Now those responsible in the town hall also want to rely on e-car sharing.

Mittenwald -

The new Isartaler magic word: E-car sharing.

This should soon be possible in the tourism destination Alpenwelt Karwendel under the leadership of Karwendel, Energie und Wasser-GmbH (KEW).

In other words: The three Isartal partner communities will then provide electric cars that can be used by locals and guests in a climate-neutral way.

The Mittenwald municipal council unanimously said yes in its most recent meeting.

On Tuesday, August 3rd, the Kruners will probably follow suit.

In a first step, KEW is planning to lease four to five e-cars.

In future, these should be provided with the appropriate charging infrastructure in Mittenwald (town hall and train station car park), Krün (town hall), Wallgau (town hall) and possibly in Klais.

Book an e-car via the app - a trip to Garmisch-Partenkirchen costs around ten euros

How does it all look in practice?

In the future, a local can book the e-car via the app and drive to the dentist in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, for example.

"That would cost him around ten euros," calculated the municipal works and KEW boss Matthias Pöll in the municipal council.

According to him, everyone in the Upper Isar Valley benefits from this: the customer drives emission-free, KEW earns money on the electricity, the added value remains on site, and nature is protected.

You use someone else.

"Because the blueprint for this concept was created in the Ammertal", reports Pöll.

And it seems to work wonderfully there.

Even more: "They already have a small fleet," knows Mayor Enrico Corongiu (SPD).

The plans, which are expected to be implemented in 2022, met with broad support in the council.

"This is an offer to citizens who want to save a second car," concluded Regina Hornsteiner (CSU).

For Georg Seitz (Free Voters) this initiative means “another pillar for our energy providers”.

Two quick charging points are to be created - the federal government supports pillars

The application by the CSU to set up so-called fast charging stations was aimed in the same direction. Because these will be funded by the federal government through a special program until the end of 2022. There was broad consensus on this point too. Two of these electricity tapping points are to be implemented on the parking lot on Arnspitzstrasse and two on Ladestrasse Ost. The project devours 160,000 euros and the German taxpayer pays 100,000. So far so good. But then Second Mayor Seitz spoke up. "It is a little surprising that you jump on a train that is already starting." With what, according to Seitz, a "watered down proposal". In other words: e-mobility would get rolling in Mittenwald even without the CSU initiative.Of course, that caused astonished looks on the opposite side. “Dear Georg,” Gerhard Schöner (CSU) started his counterattack with smugness and reminded Seitz that the building committee supported the CSU offensive 9-0. “Sorry for worrying about the market, you could have submitted an application. It now comes across like food envy - two years after the election campaign. "

Seitz didn't want to let that sit on him.

"Dear Gerhard, you don't need to submit an application for things that are already in the administration."

“That's why this discussion was now a junk.” In the end, the vote was unanimous on this point of the day as well.

So soon there will be 18 public charging stations in the tourist resort of Mittenwald.

And the trend will continue to rise sharply, KEW boss Pöll is firmly convinced.

In ten years, the energy expert believes, this number could have increased tenfold.
