Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis warned that his country is facing "the worst heat wave since 1987," noting that temperatures in some areas have reached 45 degrees Celsius today.
Greece has been witnessing a sharp rise in temperatures since last Thursday, and Greek meteorologists expect that the wave will reach its peak today and tomorrow.
Greece was affected by a similar heat wave in July 1987, which killed more than a thousand people due to lack of air conditioners and air pollution.
