In a dispute, Kubicki accuses Lauterbach of being a "fear maker" with his corona horror scenarios.

The SPD man calls this polemics.

Berlin - The FDP vice-president Wolfgang Kubicki and the SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach stand for opposing positions on the corona measures.

Now the two

on Sunday (August 1st) in the

talk “The right questions”.

In it, Kubicki accuses Lauterbach: "He has found his role as Kassandra der Republik." With its horror scenarios, it is a "scare-maker".

It is better to encourage people than to spread fear.

Lauterbach didn't let that sit on him: “This is polemic.

I also pointed out things very early on that give us hope. ”Incidentally, he still believes that vaccinations can be used to achieve herd immunity.

But if, as a doctor, he describes "that we have not yet overcome the pandemic," then he is by no means a fear-maker.

Corona duel between Lauterbach and Kubicki: people become "crime victims"

The two politicians fiercely argued about the newly introduced mandatory testing for unvaccinated travelers returning home.

According to Lauterbach, this is also necessary because of the spread of the delta variant.

"Some of the people come from countries with significantly higher incidences and have had many contacts."

For Kubicki, on the other hand, compulsory testing is absurd.

Because of the short-term order before their return, many Germans would no longer have a chance to take another test.

The government makes people “victims of administrative offenses”.

With an incidence of 35, no restrictive measures are actually allowed.

The government is exceeding its powers here.

Corona duel by Lauterbach and Kubicki: dispute over the effectiveness of the corona measures

Lauterbach and Kubicki also got into quarreling about the effectiveness of the corona measures.

The FDP politician said: “The federal government doesn't even know how individual measures work”, but they are imposing them anyway.

In some cases, it is still mandatory to wear a mask outdoors, it does not help at all and must be abolished.

He called for "a return to normality as soon as possible", which was also "constitutionally required".

Lauterbach countered that there are now “a lot of studies” that have proven the effectiveness of individual measures such as the requirement to wear a mask.

The federal government is not acting without a basis here.

Lauterbach gives three reasons against the lifting of corona measures.

On the one hand, there are also younger people who have been vaccinated with risk factors that could die.

In addition, at least five to ten percent of those suffering from Corona would have to deal with Long Covid.

After all, you would have breakthrough infections in the elderly who were vaccinated earlier this year.

Without a booster vaccination, they are at great risk if the number of cases is high.

Corona duel between Lauterbach and Kubicki: "I'm about to go mad"

"I'm on the verge of madness," replied Kubicki.

At least twelve million people in Germany could not receive a vaccination at all.

With them, the principle that they could get infected because they thankfully do not have any difficult courses is acceptable.

This cannot be averted at all because they continue to participate in life.

Kubicki referred to Denmark, where public life has almost returned to normal.

"I got vaccinated to protect myself," said Kubicki.

He trusts that the vaccination will guarantee this protection.

He will probably be vaccinated for the third time in the fall.

That is personal provision.

If people did not want that, then "they take the risk for themselves".

Lauterbach pointed out that those who had been vaccinated not only endanger themselves, but also others.

Because there are people who cannot be vaccinated.
