It has now been a little over two months that Mounir Boutaa, the main suspect in the murder in the middle of the street of his ex-partner in Mérignac on May 4, has been held in the prison of Agen (Lot-et-Garonne) .
The 44-year-old man tried to set his cell on fire on Tuesday afternoon, July 27, France Bleu Gironde reported on Sunday.

Alerted by the triggering of the fire alarm, several supervisors went to his cell to evacuate him.
The detainee then tried to attack them with homemade weapons but he was overpowered without causing any injuries, the prison FO union told France Bleu.
The detainee was admitted to the emergency room and then interned at the psychiatric hospital in Agen before being finally transferred to the UHSA, the psychiatric "hospital-prison" of Cadillac in Gironde.

Mounir Boutaa was indicted on May 7 for intentional homicide on his ex-wife Chahinez. A repeat offender, he had already been sentenced in June 2010 to 9 months in prison for domestic violence. A ban on approaching the victim had also been ordered by the justice on his release from prison. A measure he had not respected, pushing the young mother of 31 years to file a complaint against him last March.
The complaint was recorded by a police officer himself convicted of domestic violence, as revealed by the Chained Duck.
On May 4, Mounir Boutaa waited for the young woman in front of her home and shot her several times in the legs with a gun before burning her alive in the middle of the street.
Arrested and taken into custody, the man said he was convinced that Chahinez had a lover.
