Geretsried - It could have been Josef Reiter's season.

The Geretsrieder River Rats striker already had 13 scorer points - including nine goals and four assists - after the first eight Bayern League games in October 2020.

But then came the November lockdown and finally, due to the coronavirus, the ice hockey season was canceled.

The 23-year-old wants to tackle the ESC Geretsried again in the coming season - as does his striker colleague Michael Harrer (21).

Much to the delight of Peter Holdschik, who carefully analyzed the abilities of the two young attackers.

“Michi is a decent, personable and talented guy who works hard for his chance.

And I am sure that he will get it and use it.

Therefore it fits perfectly into our squad planning ”, says the 2nd chairman.

He particularly appreciates riders because he is “a super grateful player for every coach.

Diligence, commitment, struggle and playful qualities speak for him.

Josef is a tireless driver with full commitment and wit.

He always delivers and scores reliably, is leading the way and proved this impressively last season. "

Harrer, whose father Peter defended for the River Rats for many years, only arrived in Geretsried before last season. In the short Bayern League season he also received a few appearances and impressed from the start with a highly motivated appearance and concentrated performance. He scored one goal and one assist in eight games. Before the move, he played at EC Bad Tölz in the school league and the German junior league DNL, among others.

Josef Reiter has been wearing the Geretsried jersey since 2019. He was also trained in the Tölzer youngsters, played in the German junior league DNL, was German student champion in 2013 and received various missions in the jersey of the German youth national teams U16 to U19. In the men's area, the attacker gained four years of top division experience with the Tölzer Löwen, TEV Miesbach and SC Riessersee. ESC press spokesman Tom Kinzl gave the 23-year-old a good report card: “Josy is an ambitious winger who took off right from the start and always delivered strong performances and a strong commitment. This quickly secured the sympathy of Geretsried ice hockey fans. ”The Bayernliga club has thus added“ two more talented players ”to its existing storm ranks.
