President Joe Biden asked New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to step down after an independent investigation by the state attorney general found he sexually harassed nearly a dozen women who worked in his office.
"I think I should resign,"
the president said at a press conference Tuesday at the White House.
When asked if he believed he should be impeachment in Congress, Biden simply acknowledged that this was one of the powers of the legislature in New York.
However, he clarified that he has not read the report and does not know the details of the investigations against him.
Biden's comments come at a time
when voices have grown in the Democratic Party, to which Cuomo belongs, for the governor to resign
.
"Recognizing his love for New York and the respect he has for the position, I ask the Governor to resign," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
