An earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale hit Bengkulu province in western Indonesia today, but no casualties were reported.
Xinhua quoted the Indonesian Meteorology and Geophysics Agency as saying that the quake struck at a depth of 10 km and was centered 123 km southwest of the city of Mokomoko, while no tsunami warnings were issued.
An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale hit the northeastern city of Tual in the Maluku Islands, eastern Indonesia, yesterday, without causing any casualties.
It is noteworthy that Indonesia is often prone to earthquakes because it is located in a region called the Pacific Ring of Fire, where earthquakes and tremors are frequent.
