Protests in Guatemala after dismissal of prosecutor 4:05
(CNN Spanish) -
The Attorney General of Guatemala, Consuelo Porras, made several appointments on Tuesday, including José Rafael Curruchiche in charge of the Special Prosecutor's Office against Impunity (FECI), the Public Ministry reported in a statement.
Curruchiche replaces Juan Francisco Sandoval, dismissed on July 23 by Porras due to alleged "humiliations" by the now former official against the attorney general herself.
The dismissal has generated protests in the country and the rejection of several countries, including the United States.
