Legal representatives of alliances and political parties registered seven forms of candidates for president and vice president of Nicaragua on Monday before the Supreme Electoral Council to participate in the general elections scheduled for November 7, marked by the arrest of dozens of opponents.

They also presented their lists of candidates to national and departmental deputies and to the Central American Parliament.

Registration takes place when there are more than three months to go to an election marked by the arrest of more than 30 opponents, most of whom are being investigated for alleged acts against national sovereignty, including seven presidential candidates.

Kitty Monterrey, president and legal representative of the Citizens for Freedom Party (CXL), registered her applicants.

The presidential formula is made up of the former commander of the counterrevolution Óscar Sobalvarro and the then Miss Nicaragua 2017 Berenice Quezada.

Sobalvarro was selected by the rank and file of his party after, according to the president, three registered candidates were imprisoned.

Carlos Canales, representative of the Alliance for the Republic Party (APRE), registered his presidential formula: the lawyer Gerson Gutiérrez Gasparín, 29, and Claudia María Romero.

This party has only one seat in the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, the Independent Liberal Alliance Party (PLI) registered deputy Mauricio Orue Vásquez as a candidate for president and Zobeida del Socorro Rodríguez, a native of the South Caribbean region, as a candidate for vice president.

The Liberal Constitutionalist Party (PLC) also appeared before the Supreme Electoral Council to register its presidential formula.
