Farewell mood at the Murnau police station: After four years, Vice-Chief Jürgen Kettl leaves the office in the market town.

The 55-year-old from Ohlstadt is drawn to the Presidium in Rosenheim.

As a staff council, he will take care of the worries and concerns of around 3,000 civil servants there.

Murnau - The stupid thing about mistakes is that you usually only notice them afterwards. So it doesn't help Joachim Loy that he would change his mind when making his election decision today when it comes to the question of the new staff councils. "It would have been better if I hadn't made my cross with Jürgen," says the head of the Murnau police station. But don't worry: Loy smiles up and down in the direction of Jürgen Kettl. The whole thing is not meant seriously. Loy would re-elect his colleague at any time. “I would like to give him this new position from the bottom of my heart.” Even if it means that after four years he will lose his deputy at PI Murnau.

Jürgen Kettl has held the post of Loys Vice in the market town since 2017.

With his successful performance in the most recent staff council election, however, this time has now come to an end.

Kettl will move to the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria South in Rosenheim as one of 17 staff councils for at least the next five years.

There he and his colleagues are the point of contact for the concerns and concerns of around 3,000 police officers.

"From questions about data protection and labor law to personal support after difficult assignments, everything is included," says Kettl.

"We are the link between the Presidium and the employees."

In Murnau, Kettt worked primarily on the security concepts of the communities

For the 55-year-old, who lives with his wife and two children in Ohlstadt, the new task is not entirely unknown. Even before his time in Murnau, he had worked as a staff council in Munich for six years. “That's why I know a little bit about it,” says Kettl. But he definitely doesn't want to miss the four years in the market town. “It was a great time in which a lot has progressed,” he emphasizes. At Loy's side, Kettl worked on the security concepts of the communities, for example for markets or other major events. Closer networking between the police, fire brigades and rescue services was also important to him. How much he could always rely on his team was shown to him above all by the time when Murnau mutated into a stronghold of the Corona demonstrations.“For a small agency like ours, that was hardly manageable,” admits Kettl. "But everyone stuck together here and in the end, I think, solved it very well - just a great group."

Who will succeed the Ohlstadt man will only be decided after an advertisement in the new year.

Until then, with Clemens Schmitz, a man from our own ranks will take over the post on a temporary basis.

The 47-year-old from Garmisch-Partenkirchen was most recently operations manager at the Murnau border police.

Rudi Schedler, formerly Murnauer Vice-Boss for a transitional period and, according to Loy, “the actually logical candidate”, was no longer an option, as he will retire at the end of the year and still have to cut a lot of vacation time.

“But the solution with Clemens fits perfectly,” Loy clarifies.

"I have full confidence that he will continue Jürgen's great work as well."

PI boss Loy: "Murnau benefited from Jürgen Kettl - both personally and professionally."

The fact that he is losing his partner at the top in Jürgen Kettl makes him a little sad. “It just worked out very well between us.” Thanks to his vast experience, Kettl provided a lot of new impulses. Loy's conclusion: "PI Murnau has clearly benefited from Jürgen Kettl - both personally and professionally."
