. Merkel is in first place ahead of the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder. The CSU boss, who, like a mantelpiece, emphasized his better poll numbers compared to Laschet in the dispute over the K question, can claim his second place. Behind them is ex-leftist Sahra Wagenknecht.

Wagenknecht is on a shared third place with Olaf Scholz.

The finance minister of the SPD comes in by far the best ranking of all candidates for chancellor.

His opponents in the upcoming federal election, Annalena Baerbock and Armin Laschet, occupy a disappointing 15th and 16th place respectively.

Compared to the last survey, the Green candidate goes up one place.

In the end, Baerbock ends up well behind her co-boss Robert Habeck (7th).

The most popular green politician is Winfried Kretschmann.

The Prime Minister of Baden-Wuerttemberg lands in fifth place in the list of polled politicians.

Bundestag election: Laschet and Baerbock disappoint in polls - also at the back of ZDF

Laschet, however, is only in fifth place within the Union.

Merkel, Söder, Friedrich Merz (12), Jens Spahn (14) lie in front of the native of Aachen.

Before Laschet, FDP boss Christian Lindner (9) and Dietmar Bartsch, co-leader of the left-wing parliamentary group (13) rank among others.

Meanwhile, Baerbock and Laschet also occupy a place in the lower half of the ZDF Politbarometer.

In the assessment of sympathy and performance (“What do you think of ...?”), Angela Merkel came first.

Markus Söder and Olaf Scholz follow at a considerable distance.

The SPD candidate thus underpins his currently good approval ratings. This is followed by Robert Habeck, Heiko Maas, Horst Seehofer, Christian Lindner and Jens Spahn. For the first time in the negative range on the scale from +5 to -5 and with massive loss of reputation, Armin Laschet is minus 0.2 (July I: 0.5). Annalena Baerbock remains at the bottom with minus 0.5 (July I: minus 0.5). In the course of the upcoming federal election on September 26th, a worrying result for the Union and the Greens.
