Munich - Markus Söder switches back to attack mode.

The Bavarian Prime Minister fires on all channels and from full pipes.

If it does not affect his deputy Hubert Aiwanger, party friend Armin Laschet is on.

With both of them, the Franconian still has an open plan: Laschet inflicted the first major defeat of his life on the CSU boss, who was used to success, when he wrested his candidacy for chancellor, which had already been believed to be certain.

And Aiwanger?

As a coalition partner, he also does not want to submit to the Bavaria regent's unconditional claim to power.

Söder's completely out of control dispute with Aiwanger ultimately harms Laschet

Now it is difficult to contradict Söder on the matter: Aiwanger's flirtation with the vaccine opponents is just as problematic as Laschet's uninspired sleeping car election campaign. It only worked as long as Green leader Baerbock was (even) more stupid than Laschet. With his silly laugh in the flood area, the NRW Prime Minister has rekindled the doubts that already existed as to whether he has what it takes to be a statesman. But instead of supporting the tumbling party friend (and thus also securing CSU mandates), the CSU boss now shoots him completely ready for a storm by showing him off in public with relish. This is how he once brought down Seehofer.

Söder's completely out of control dispute with Aiwanger also harms Laschet in the end.

The CSU boss offers the nationwide until recently largely unknown free voter boss the stage for his vaccination election campaign - up to and including the long-held to be excluded possibility of free voters jumping the five percent hurdle and entering the Bundestag .

All of this cannot be in the interests of the CSU.

If the angry man in the Munich State Chancellery does not realize that it is time to pause, maybe his party friends should remind him soon.
