Democrat Andrew Cuomo violated federal and state laws, and both he and his team retaliated against a woman who denounced his actions, according to the court investigation.

The New York State Attorney General's Office determined that the governor, Andrew Cuomo, sexually harassed several women, including former state workers and employees, according to an independent investigation launched following public complaints from a group of women who accuse the Democratic politician of inappropriate actions and comments.

The report prepared by the Prosecutor's Office also concluded that Cuomo violated federal and state laws, and that both he and his team retaliated against a woman who reported the events.

Since February there have been testimonies from women who have told how they were allegedly sexually harassed by the governor.

The first was Lindsey Boylan, a former state economic development official, who said that Cuomo besieged her between 2016 and 2018 and even kissed her on the lips.

The second was Charlotte Bennett, who told The New York Times that the politician questioned her about her sex life and asked her if she had ever had relationships with older men.

The governor apologized for having made inappropriate comments that could have been misinterpreted, but denied having gone too far or having groped any of his collaborators.

Despite being pressured to resign, he assured that he would not abandon his position.

During the following months, new complaints continued to emerge.

A lawyer for Cuomo, Rita Glavin, came to his defense when another woman accused the politician of inappropriate remarks.

As the lawyer explained to The New York Times, there is nothing wrong with his actions.

“The governor has greeted men and women with hugs and a kiss on the cheek, forehead or hand.

Yes, he has posed for pictures with his arm around them.

Yes, use Italian phrases like 'ciao bella,' he noted.
