The men's 30s of SpVgg Zolling had to win four matches to stay in the regional tennis league.
Exactly these points were obtained at 4-5 in Freiberg.
Zolling
- The last round was characteristic of this league: Bundesliga promoted Pfarrkirchen beat the second Feldkirchen 9-0 and the other three games each ended 5-4.
Neutraubling and Schwaben Augsburg lost 4-5, so that neither team would have overtaken Zollinger either way.
In the worst case, Herbert Jarczyk & Co. could have slipped to sixth place - the third relegation place.
There were three match-tie breaks in the first individual round
However, the Zollinger team removed this minimal residual risk on their own.
You went into the last round with three wins and a significantly better match ratio, so that the four match points would have been enough in all arithmetic cases.
However, the Saxon representative Küchwald / Freiberg did not give you anything for free.
In the first individual round there were three match-tie breaks and two of them were won by Zollinger Spousta and Hegedusch with two points more.
In doubles, SpVgg also won a match break.
With a win at the Saxons you would have jumped to second place in the table.
The way there was too far after the 3: 3 in the singles.
Two doubles went quite clearly to the home team.
Markus Staringer won five of his six singles
In the individual, Markus Staringer was close to making a preliminary decision with a fourth Zollinger point in two sets lost in the tie-break.
He also has the best individual record of the season: he won five of his six singles.
Meanwhile, Jiri Spousta completed the round as the most successful points collector.
He came up with 5: 2 singles and 5: 2 doubles.
Staringer won three of his six doubles.
With a positive individual balance of 4: 3, Herbert Jarczyk also ended a season in which the Zollinger could be very satisfied with themselves and the (tennis) world.
