“Kaiserschmarrndrama”: successful author Rita Falk and Eberhofer actor Sebastian Bezzel talked about the new film from the Bavarian cult series.

One year Eberhofer break.

Does Corona even play a role in the film?

Sebastian Bezzel: No, we were still shooting in the happy pre-Corona times.

Although - Simon and I already have an idea (laughs): The Birkenberger would be the perfect hygiene officer, keep your distance!

Mask on, Rudi would have that great under control!

And dad would be in the left lateral thinking scene ...

Rita Falk: Grandma sews masks, Susi and Franz freak out because the little one can no longer go to kindergarten.

That would fit wonderfully into the Eberhofer cosmos.

Sebastian, did you have to settle into the Eberhofer again after the break?

Bezzel: It's actually enough to put on the costume.

Jeans, shirt, leather jacket on and off you go.

But also all the trappings, the colleagues, the same director - I'll be right back in there.

There's only one leather jacket, right?

Bezzel: Yes, the breast pocket is so nicely kinked that you can't even make it.

This is a find from our costume designer.

He's a truffle pig, he's looking for great old things.

The shirt is also always the same.

But this time I got a new pair of jeans.

The old one was so through, I couldn't sit in the Audi anymore without it tearing.

But these are not new designer jeans either?

Bezzel: Well, our costume designer thinks that too.

This is a good example of how attention to detail the films are.

We also have Ed Herzog to thank for that.

That's why the films stay good because the details are right.

Rita Falk: "We are currently writing Bavarian film history"

A secret of the films' success ..

Bezzel: Yes, you could also say, mei, then I'll just buy a new pair of jeans.

No, the little things have to be right.

It's now the seventh Eberhofer film, nobody would have thought at the beginning ...

Falk: You have to imagine that.

We are currently writing Bavarian film history.

Bezzel: German film history!

The last successful cinema series in Germany in was Schoolgirl Report.

Was less black humor ...

Bezzel: But it also brought people to the cinema.

What is the character of the Kaiserschmarrndrama?

Bezzel: He's wickedly humorous, especially when Rudi throws the urine bottle at the nurse.

But it's also sometimes very sad, almost melancholy ...

Falk: I even shed a tear while writing about the scene in the hospital at the end (Eberhofer brother Leopold again father, note), the two brothers are really in love too.

Bezzel: Because Franz doesn't want any change.

And Leopold is reliably shit, that's why he likes him (laughs).

Gerhard plays him brilliantly, a great colleague.

Rita Falk: "I always have the actors in front of my eyes when I write"

And Rita invented Leopold.

Do you even think of the actors when you write?

Falk: Definitely, I always have the actors in front of my eyes when I write, no matter who is on the scene.

Since then, I've also found myself a lot easier.

So can we count on more Eberhofer novels?

Falk: I don't know.

Whenever I start a new one I think it's the last one.

But then the fans are so rebellious (laughs), then I'll just do another one.

I find nothing more embarrassing than first letting him die and then resurrecting him.

I definitely don't do that.

Bezzel: He doesn't have to die.

You can also shoot the next one in five years, then he'll be Franz's son in the middle of puberty ...

Speaking of getting older.

You just turned 50 ...

Bezzel: No, that's a lie!

Yes, unfortunately that's true.

But it wasn't possible to celebrate big, I just cooked a large pot of Spaghetti Amatriciana and we were in Garmisch with my parents with the children.

At some point, if we are allowed to, we will have a nice party.

my wife turned 50 last year.

Together we are now 101.

Have you already been on vacation?

Bezzel: Yes, motorhome vacation!

That came through cross-border commuters, so we had to switch to a mobile home because of Corona.

Last year, as a family, we rented a mobile home for the first time and made a tour of Germany, all over the world, visiting family and friends.

And this year again, we were on the Atlantic coast at a nature campsite.

Open the door, barefoot, children gone, cycled a lot, almost not recognized ...

'Look, there is Eberhofer' then it says ...

Bezzel: The people don't mean it badly, but it's difficult in Lower Bavaria, for example, because I can barely go out to eat, there'll be at least five photos.

For many you are the parade Bavarian ...

Bezzel: That sucks, I don't like the emphasis on Bavarian at all.

It's not comedies about Bavaria, but provincial comedies that are set in Bavaria, that's a big difference.

Bavarian in itself is not funny.

I like Bavaria and this language, but I also like other dialects.

Falk: Eberhofer can also play near Hamburg.

That would work too.
