The New World First Bus and Citybus, which have suffered heavy losses in recent years, have recently rushed to attack routes in new development areas.

After winning four routes from Queen's Hill in Fanling to the urban area earlier, the Transport Department announced that it would grant Citybus six bus routes to area 54 in Tuen Mun, including two cross-harbour routes to Wan Chai and Sai Wan Ho respectively. In the Tuen Mun District Bus Route Plan from 2019 to 2020, the Transport Department has implemented six new franchised bus services in Tuen Mun Area 54 near Siu Hong Court and Zi Tin Village, two of which are cross-harbour routes. To Sai Wan Ho and Wan Chai North; two lines to Kowloon, respectively to Tsim Sha Tsui and Kwun Tong Ferry; one bus line to Tin Ping Village, Sheung Shui; the remaining line is the district loop line to Tuen Mun MTR station.

According to the Transport Department, the new route can cope with the population growth in the area and strengthen the bus network.

According to the information, in 2021/22, 9,400 public housing units will be completed in Tuen Mun 54 area.

Information on six new Tuen Mun routes approved by Citybus:

1. Tuen Mun (Area 54)-Tuen Mun Station Public Transport Interchange (Circular Route)

2. Tuen Mun (Area 54)-Sheung Shui (Tin Ping Village)

3. Tuen Mun (Area 54)-Tsim Sha Tsui (Kowloon) Station)

4. Tuen Mun (Area 54)-Kwun Tong Ferry Public Transport Interchange

5. Tuen Mun (Area 54)-Sai Wan Ho (Tai On Street)

6. Tuen Mun (Area 54)-Wan Chai (North) Public transport interchange

The Transport Department stated that after reviewing the proposals of the bus service operators, it has decided to select Citybus (Franchise 1) to operate the six bus routes mentioned above.

The Transport Department stated that it is following up with the bus company on the operation details and will announce the details of the new bus service at a later date, including the service date, service time and frequency, etc.

In the past, Citybus mainly operated Hong Kong Island and Kai Tak routes. In June, the Transport Department approved four routes from Queen's Hill, Fanling to the urban area. This is the first time that Citybus has exclusively operated bus routes in the North District.

NWFB and Citybus’s management had revealed in previous interviews that they would be determined to enter the New Territories and Kowloon routes to compete with KMB.

Citybus rushes to reach Queen’s Hill and opens the fourth line of Fanling to cross the sea for 110 minutes. NWFB will be launched before the fourth quarter. The Transport Department will introduce hydrogen buses and promote zero-emissions. NWFB and Citybus’s management first recognizes that NWFB and Citybus’s unified fare may increase significantly, or some of the fares will become an obstacle. NWFB and Citybus’s high-level bombardment of bus fare mechanism is not transparent. Advocating to adjust the fare annually with objective data. price
