We are places open to all without distinction. Unconditional welcome, mutual aid and exchange are fundamental concepts, part of our core values,

”they announced in a press release published Tuesday, August 4 on their Facebook page. "

We refuse to play the role of health police and thus to control, sort and separate the users of our places

", they added.

The signatories believe that this health pass could force them to "

refuse to serve a drink or allow people to attend an event with whom we have known for years

". In addition, they believe they are making this decision "

in the name of the defense of individual freedom to come and go in public places

", considering that with the implementation of the health pass a "

red line has been crossed

".

Established in 38 Breton municipalities (Brest, Concarneau, Saint-Brieuc, Lorient, Lannion ...), the 44 signatory restaurateurs and bistrotiers say they are "

fully aware of the health context

" and do not wish to put "

the relevance of the vaccine

back

into debate

" .

In Guérande, not far from Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique), 250 people, according to the gendarmerie (traders, cafetiers and restaurateurs), marched on Wednesday afternoon to demonstrate their opposition to the health pass.

The demonstrators chanted in particular “

freedom, freedom

”.

Faced with the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic, which has killed more than 112,000 in France, the health pass (recent negative Covid test, vaccination certificate or certificate of recovery) entered into force on July 21 in "

places of leisure and culture

”gathering more than 50 people. It must be extended from August 9 to cafes, restaurants, mainline trains and domestic flights, as well as non-emergency patients and visitors to health establishments and retirement homes. Subject to the decision expected Thursday from the Constitutional Council, seized by left-wing deputies.
