Damascus-SANA
The number of visitors to the flower exhibition in Tishreen Park, which concluded its activities yesterday, reached 150 thousand, according to the figures of the Damascus Tourism Directorate, which announced that it was an exhibition of popular and family tourism par excellence.
And the flower exhibition, which was organized by the Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Governorate of Damascus between the 18th of last July and the 3rd of this August, entitled “Sham Jasmine Blooms Again.” It included 60 pavilions and 17 green areas, displaying flowers, plants and equipment for nurseries, products of the Damascene rose, and medicinal and aromatic plants.
Director of Damascus Tourism, Eng. Bassam Mardinelli, told SANA that the flower exhibition witnessed a huge turnout, and the ministry provided the necessary facilities for its success and provided the opportunity for free for a number of craftsmen, rural women and families of martyrs to promote their products from all governorates and achieve material and moral benefit by proving their presence.
Mardinelli pointed out that the exhibition, through artistic and cultural activities, sent awareness and educational messages about ways to take care of house plants and gardens, encourage the cultivation of flowers in the balconies of homes and narrow spaces, and encourage interest in the Damascene Rose, which is registered on the World Heritage List, and on the importance of waste recycling and reuse.
Mardinelli indicated that the ministry sent invitations to attend the exhibition to a number of neighboring countries, but the Corona pandemic limited this matter and the attendance was limited to the countries of Lebanon and Iraq, pointing out that the committees responsible for the exhibition will discuss the gaps and negatives to address them in the upcoming sessions and enhance the positives.
