Thousands of patients in the Gaza Strip are threatened with death in light of the acute shortage of medicines and medical supplies, and preventing them from completing their treatment in the West Bank or abroad, due to the lack of supplies for their treatment in the Gaza Strip’s hospitals in light of the 15-year Israeli siege, while the international community ignores the human tragedy and the aggravating suffering of more than Two million Palestinians live in acute shortage of all the necessities of their daily lives.

Human rights reports documented the death of three thousand cancer patients in the Gaza Strip during the past five years as a result of the lack of treatment in the hospitals of the Strip and their prevention from travel by the Israeli occupation, in addition to the presence of thousands of patients with incurable diseases who are trying to obtain their treatment from the pharmacies of the hospitals of the Strip, but to no avail. That their balance became zero and the medical devices for their treatment, especially dialysis and blood diseases patients, were stopped.

Director of Al-Awda Hospital, Ahmed Muhanna, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the health situation in the hospitals in the Gaza Strip is very difficult as a result of the tightening of the siege imposed by the Israeli occupation, which led to a severe shortage of resources, medicines and the development of medical facilities. During the previous attacks on the medical facilities in the sector, which resulted in the destruction of many of them, the weakening of their work, and the suspension of many surgeries and therapeutic doses, especially for those with chronic diseases, calling on the international community to take urgent action and send shipments of medicines and supplies to save the lives of patients.

The head of the International Commission to Support the Rights of the Palestinian People, Salah Abdel-Ati, explained that there is a dangerous and unprecedented deterioration in the health conditions in the Strip due to the aggravation of the crisis of lack of medical treatments and consumables, especially the treatment needs of patients with tumors, blood diseases and immunology as a result of the continued Israeli siege, pointing out that the health sector is on the verge of a catastrophe. The patients' lives are threatened in light of the continuous collapse of medical services, which requires the international community to urgently intervene and put pressure on the Israeli occupation to allow the entry of medicines into the Strip and the exit of patients for treatment in West Bank hospitals.

The effects of the Israeli siege on the health sector do not stop. All vital and productive sectors are experiencing a real disaster because most of them have stopped as a result of the occupation preventing the entry of raw materials, which led to the dismissal of tens of thousands of workers and the suspension of these facilities from work.

Head of the NGO Network, Mohsen Abu Ramadan, stated that the occupation prevents hundreds of types of goods from entering the Gaza Strip, and this has caused a severe shortage of food, industrial, medicine, and construction materials that the sector needs in light of the occupation’s destruction of thousands of homes and vital facilities, including infrastructure, schools and factories, pointing out that the occupation prevents Introducing more than 90 percent of raw materials, most of which are used in the industrial and commercial sectors.

For his part, human rights researcher Hussein Hammad said that the tightening of the occupation’s siege on the Gaza Strip and its prevention of the entry of medical and production equipment, medicines and medical supplies is a full-fledged war crime, indicating that 60 percent of the treatment for cancer patients and incurable diseases is not available in health facilities in the Strip as a result of the Israeli blockade as well as its prevention Patients are required to travel for treatment in the West Bank or abroad.

Member of the Political Bureau of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Maryam Abu Daqqa, explained that the occupation is trying, by tightening its siege and killing patients by preventing them from traveling, paralyzing life, starving and destroying economic facilities, to undermine the steadfastness of the people of the Gaza Strip, but it will not be able to achieve this thanks to their steadfastness and steadfastness in the face of the occupation’s plans.
