Unfortunately, due to the weather, visitors to the serenade concert of the Schongau town band last Sunday did not enjoy the magical atmosphere of the cloister courtyard. But you can enjoy live music that you have been missing for a long time in the ice rink.

Unfortunately, due to the weather, visitors to the serenade concert of the Schongau town band last Sunday did not enjoy the magical atmosphere of the cloister courtyard.

But you can enjoy live music that you have been missing for a long time in the ice rink.

Schongau

- Under the motto "(Wind) music is our world", the Schongau town band, under the direction of Andreas Immler, invited people to the first concert in two years. Due to the current hygiene regulations, visitors had to register and reserve spaces that were identified by name.

The arrival of the large ensemble was already extremely impressive, and the anticipation of the audience increased.

But then there was no big bang, but a solemn opening with “The Great Elector's Riding March”, beginning cautiously and growing brilliantly.

In the mind's eye, the decorated horses and magnificent riders passed solemnly, as it were.

A fanfare introduction like a wake-up call was followed by the “Torakusu March”, followed by the lively, exuberant “Tutti” with audible joy of playing.

A veritable world premiere

Solo voices in dialogue opened the "Moravian Dance", which describes a rather rough dance pleasure in the country.

In the “Alphorn Dream” Max Helbig was able to prove himself as a sovereign soloist, carried by the casual orchestral sound.

Drum beats and the piccolo immediately gave rise to the association with field music - and opened the “Marche des soldats”.

Gradually, the full ensemble sound unfolded and took a splendid upswing, accompanied by striking cymbals.

With Marcus Graf's “Im Schöne Pfaffenwinkel” there was even a veritable world premiere, which achieved a captivating effect with its skilfully braked swing.

As a “look at the future of brass music”, moderator Kathrin Beckstein said the number “Blas'Musik in die Welt”, which was characterized by youthful impetus and exuberance. Rather traditionally arrested, "The love of my life" appeared, a, according to Beckstein, a "declaration of love by a young musician to music and the Bavarian homeland". The “quail polka” then swept through the ice rink with a rousing swing. Corona-related exercise deficits were as little noticeable as in the rest of the program.

It then became exotic in the "Humberto Circus" with the virtuoso soloist Felix Ruhland: the lively, bustling circus atmosphere was perfectly expressed. “The European Champion” played with the Eurovision melody from Charpentier's “Te Deum”, and the “Weinkeller-Polka” went straight to the feet. On top of that, there was a medley of famous marches, starting with Strauss' “Radetzkymarsch”. The jubilantly requested encore "Am wunderbar Rhein" became the highlight of the concert. The audience wanted an encore right away.
