From October 27 to November 9, 2021, business leaders will be called upon to vote online to elect their peers, who will sit for five years, in the 126 chambers of commerce and industry (CCI) of the consular network. An election against a backdrop of controversy for the network, the usefulness of which is regularly questioned and whose annual budget - 3 billion euros - has been revised downwards in recent years by various governments considering their lifestyle costly in relation to of the expected efficiency. Last spring, the Court of Auditors came to drive the point home, going so far as to ask the question of maintaining their public funding. The magistrates of the rue Cambon also underlined the slowness with which the reforms aimed at reducing their operating costs were implemented.
