The World Bank warned that about 70 percent of Yemen's population of 30 million people is facing the risk of starvation in a country that is among the most food insecure countries in the world as a result of the aggression led by the Saudi regime against it for more than six years.
Reuters quoted the bank as saying in a report published on its website that the conflict in Yemen for more than 6 years has left at least 24.1 million people in need of humanitarian assistance, including 12.3 million children and 3.7 million internally displaced people.
The international report indicated that it also resulted in the destruction of the Yemeni economy, as the gross domestic product has fallen by half since 2015, putting more than 80 percent of the total population below the poverty line.
At the beginning of last June, the World Bank estimated the losses of Yemen at the level of infrastructure as a result of the Saudi aggression at about 8 and a half billion dollars.
International relief organizations and UN agencies have warned that the Yemeni economy is on the verge of collapse, warning that this country is suffering from one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world due to the continued Saudi aggression against it.
