Workers in this sector within the town explained to SANA’s delegate at the work sites that Al-Dreij includes 19 automatic and semi-automated poultry farms that produce more than half a million eggs daily to be marketed in all governorates.

Breeder Yassin Jamous said: “This project was founded by my father 35 years ago, and I and my brothers were able to expand and develop it. After it was a small poultry house, we turned it into a large automatic poultry house with an area of 30 acres and includes 180,000 laying hens, producing between 300 and 400 boxes of eggs daily,” pointing out that raising laying hens is one of the most important projects on which the people of Al-Dreij depend for their livelihood, and they were able, despite all the difficult circumstances we are living in as a result of the terrorist war on Syria and the high cost of production and fodder requirements, to continue and expand the work.

Jamous expressed his hope to improve the electricity situation and secure the rationed fodder to reduce production costs for the breeder, especially since the chick lives in a temperature between 22 and 24 degrees, pointing out that the Ministry of Agriculture provides breeders with part of the fodder and fuel oil, but they need more, noting that the repercussions of the terrorist war on Syria have led To stop many breeders from this work.

Veterinarian Imad Sharaf, the supervisor of the poultry house in the town of Al-Dreij, explained to SANA that the daily follow-up of laying hens reduces mortality cases and maintains production quantities by monitoring diseases that can infect chickens through the autopsy of the infected chicken and identifying the problem that may be immune or due to the quality of food or A nutritional error, or it may be caused by a germ transmitted through the air, or as a result of high temperature, so care must be taken to provide the correct service to the breeders and provide them with the vaccine and the necessary drug treatment for chickens.

And about the chicken's diet-honor that it must include some vitamins, minerals and other supplements mixed with the feed.

Regarding the municipality’s role in supporting egg production projects in Al-Dreij, the head of the local council, Engineer Ali Al-Gharib, confirmed in a statement to SANA that the council provides the necessary approvals, licenses, and legal guidelines, in addition to communicating with the Directorate of Agriculture to support poultry breeders with the fuel oil needed to provide the heating needed by these projects, which are still needed.
