The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has called for stopping the booster doses of vaccines against the Corona virus and putting these doses at the disposal of countries that have immunized only a small part of their population.

And the French press agency quoted Ghebreyesus as calling during a press conference for the World Health Organization in Geneva today, rich countries to direct the majority of vaccines to poor countries until at least the end of September.

Ghebreyesus called for the cooperation of everyone, especially the group of countries and companies that control the production of vaccines globally, with major pharmaceutical companies in particular, and the support of the Kovacs mechanism to combat inequality at the level of providing vaccines and helping and immunizing poor countries against the Corona pandemic.

Earlier today, the World Health Organization announced an increase in infection rates with the Corona virus during the past week by more than 4 million new cases, noting that most of the increases were in the Eastern Mediterranean and Western Pacific regions, where they recorded an increase of 37 percent and 33 percent, respectively, compared to the week. The Western Pacific and Eastern Mediterranean regions also showed a sharp increase in new deaths compared to the previous week, 48 percent and 31 percent, respectively.
